We worship on Sundays at 10:00 am in the sanctuary. The Sacrament of
communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month and at other
special times and seasons of the church year. The United Church of
Christ practices open Communion. Any one called to God's Table is welcome.
Nursery and church school are available for children and youth at the
same time as worship. Additional activities, events and special services
are scheduled throughout the year.
Our United Church of Christ heritage is a result of the union between
the Congregational Christian Churches and the Evangelical and Reformed
Churches. This union occurred in 1957, but our roots date back to
the Protestant Reformation.
The United Church of Christ acknowledges as its sole head, Jesus Christ,
Son of God and Savior. It acknowledges as kindred in Christ all who share
in this confession. It looks to the Word of God in the Scriptures, and
to the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, to prosper its creative
and redemptive work in the world. It claims as its own the faith of
the historic church expressed in the ancient creeds and reclaimed in
the basic insights of the Protestant Reformers. It affirms the
responsibility of the Church in each generation to make this faith its
own in reality of worship, in honesty of thought and expression, and
in purity of heart before God. In accordance with the teaching of
our Lord and the practice prevailing among evangelical Christians,
it recognizes two sacraments: Baptism and the Lord's Supper or Holy
Communion.
West Park United Church of Christ is a congregation of friendly,
caring persons, diverse in many ways, yet drawn together as one in
our faith by our Lord Jesus Christ.
We are God's people who unite as one to celebrate the joys of faith,
learn what God has to teach us, support one another in our sorrows,
offer God our prayers and praise regularly and prepare ourselves and
others to meet the challenges of our world and engage in the mission
and ministry to which God calls us.
